Re: Electroair Electronic Ignition replacement for 0540-L3C5D Dual magneto

I installed the Electroair dual electronic ignition system in my 1979 TR182 in March of 2023. The engine is the O-540-L3C5D. I am happy with the EA system. I have attached an article that chronicles the installation and initial flight ops. The engine makes more power and uses less fuel than the ...

Re: BAS Parts overhauled brake swivel hydraulic fittings

... one more thing, BAS is not technically "rebuilding" the swivels. They are "repairing" the swivels. To rebuild, requires strict accordance to manufacturer's procedures. Permaswage has this but were not willing to repair, but even then the Permaswage engineer said they could "repair" the swivels ...

Re: BAS Parts overhauled brake swivel hydraulic fittings

I installed 2 of the BAS overhauled swivels 3 years ago in my R182 (I tried to rebuild mine myself with no luck . . . .) and they have performed perfectly. Would totally recommend these as they are half the price of new ones from McFarlane.

I think BAS needs a little more track history ...

Re: electroair Electronic Ignition replacement for 0540-J3C5D Dual magneto

I I just got my two controllers reinstalled after a software update was performed to add the top flow induction curve, which reduces the timing 2/3rds of one degree for every inch of manifold pressure loss below 24 inches, instead of the standard curve, which reduces timing 2 degrees per inch below ...

Re: Screen Assembly for Hydraulic Power Pack

Thanks for the parts locating tip. Yes that's it. Very small. In my opinion, what happens is that so much time passes between the little dipstick being pulled so the dipstick starts to stick to the screen, and when the "next person" pulls it out and is not aware, the screen likely stays attached at ...

Screen Assembly for Hydraulic Power Pack

So, decided to finally replace the missing screen P/N 1280809-4 for the hydraulic gear power pack. It has been missing forever. But the part was originally there for a reason.
Expensive for a small part. No luck finding it on Wentworth or BAS. Curious if other R182 owners notice their screen is ...

Re: Comments on Lycoming valves sticking

Thanks Scott. My R182 which is the 346th produced, and owned since 2007; has the O-540-J3C5D variant; normally aspirated, had it since 65 hours factory reman. Currently has 1,175 hours. Currently, no known nor apparent morning sickness issues. Do use both Camguard and Alcor TCP for many years, and ...

Re: R/TR182 Type Club McFarlane Account information for 10% discount

Thank you Scott!

Wish we had this a few years ago when I ordered two new MLG swivel assemblies from McFarlane but at least they weren't Cessna/Textron.
