Re: Observed True Air Speed - What speeds are you seeing?

Our G5's have shown HW/XW since 2021 installation. Logs indicate our G5 software was updated 7/11/2024 to version 8.26 IAW SB 23047A

Advised Garmin shop about your version 8 and waiting for their reply. Late Friday PM here so not expecting a reply til next week.

Re: Observed True Air Speed - What speeds are you seeing?

Still waiting for reply on this. Pinged Garmin shop again today.

Shop is asking is there a magnetometer, GMU, a GAD13 and OAT probe? Also needs a GPS connection to the G5 to receive wind direction info.

Oil Filter element image archives

We archive oil filter images at every oil change as dated evidence confirming the health of our engine - similar to oil analysis. Some believe oil filter element condition is the best indicator of engine health. We typically see a few small specs of carbon which are black- although not this time, an...

R182 Main Landing Gear downlock actuators and hooks

Here are good images of clean MLG actuators
and downlock hooks/shafts. We often see dirt & dried hydraulic fluid at these locations.
This how you want your MLG downlock actuators/hooks to look when you're crawling around
checking out your gear.

R182 Jacking & Hoisting - See Service Manual Section 2, p.3-4

We recently joined Matt Van Bergen to help on his owner assisted annual. Jacking the R182 is always eye-opening no matter how many times you've done it, and having 3 people helps - one at each jack position. Reaching a cruise altitude of at least 16"(we use 18" to account for floor slope/v...

'Ice Without Fear' article - FLYING November 1972

'Ice Without Fear' may be one of the best articles on GA icing flight ops strategies we've seen. It is also noteworthy the author was killed in an infamous accident in Alaska weeks after publishing. Don Jonz was killed in a C310H along with two U.S. Congressmen, Nick Begich of Alaska and Hale Boggs...

Re: N215CC - For sale by Owner

Saw this airplane and met Jason at OSH 2024 and it’s a well cared for, regularly flown excellent example of the type. Worth checking out for sure. Would be ideal to keep it in the type club.

Re: Observed True Air Speed - What speeds are you seeing?

Interesting - will check the G5 HSI Setup page next time while in cruise to see what options look like. Our Garmin dealer says he'll check the install manual and advise as well.
