Lycoming Cylinder Availability

Post by jeremyseeliger »

Hello everyone... have a question...

Are any of you in overhaul waiting for cylinders from Lycoming? It has now been over a year and they still have not shipped me new cylinders. Was wondering if any of you had a better pulse on the situation than I do. My mechanic said recently he called and that we are 'getting close', whatever the heck that means.

More of a rant than anything I suppose! At this point I should have just rebuilt my cylinders and called it an IRAN but when it costs as much as it does, it's nice to have the time be 0 SMOH!

Have a good day!

Hi Jeremy,
Searching the Air Power site for 05K21117 Lycoming KIT CYLINDER for the O-540-J3C5D they show a price of
$2,594.18(Price Valid Until Stock is Depleted) indicating they have stock available as seen at https://www.airpowerinc.com/05K21117
Earlier this year Lycoming tech support indicated they've caught up with demand for many engine models in the 540 series, however we'd heard late last year from a major overhaul shop the backlog was 6 months.
We will inquire at the Lycoming OSH booth and respond further.
