Stene Wingtip Kit w WigWag AeroLed Quazar Landing / Taxi / NSPs

Post by T182DFW »

Hi there all my R/TR182 friends,

I wanted to share a few pics from my recent Stene Aviation wingtip / AeroLED Wig/Wag light upgrade on our family’s T182.

Candidly, my eyesight just ain’t what it used to be…so adding the LED’s all the way around our plane had been a safety goal of mine. Now that it is done I feel very confident that anyone in my vicinity will seem me coming from far away, e.g. Short Final and I absolutely luv the Night T/O and Landings compared to the view using my old John Deere lights.

Stene Aviation manufactures the STC approved fiberglass wingtips (which can be painted any color you like) …and they teamed up w AeroLEDs to integrate their Quazar combination Taxi / Landing lights all nicely housed in a clear bubble. The final look is very clean and modern. I also upgraded the NSP lights but that is entirely optional. I chose AeroLED's for all my LED's because I wanted everything on the aicraft to be able to “sync” ...and going to one vendor helped mitigate any finger pointing between different vendors “units/box”.

Installation kits from Stene are available for almost all Cessna wings and come in a few flavors. (older vs newer model year Cessna’s) (Sportsman STOL vs stock leading edge) etc.. Just scroll through their AML and you should be quickly find what you’re looking for. Delivery time was about 2 weeks from order to arrival on my doorstep.

My local A&P required 12 hours of shop time for the installation…but that might be a little misleading because during a recent Avionics upgrade I had the avionics technicians “prewire” everything in anticipation of this upgrade.

Below are a few website specs + installation pics. I am happy to answer any basic questions, but probably not the right person for highly technical details...that's probably best left for my much smarter / wiser professional mechanics.

Cheers!
