Tail stand example for jacking

Post by scottrsellers »

Here's our tail stand that compared to a tub filled with concrete is easy to move and store because it breaks down into small pieces. It uses 4ea. 45lb sand bags, plus another 60lbs of lead shot as ballast for the steel stand sitting on the wood cribbing, easily moved on the rolling steel dolly.
The R/TR182 Service Manual calls for 16" height to jack the airplane so the MLG clears the floor when it cycles, but find 18" works better to account for slope/variation in the floor.
