Anybody have a schematic for a gear pump on light?

We added a gear pump light while rewiring our new panel, so will take a look and see how that wiring was done.
Diagrams below from the Service Manual indicate running a wire from the pump to a light should be fairly straight forward.

Just as expected you can see the wire(blue arrow) from the pump rely heading up to the panel light on our airplane here as an example of wiring. Hope this helps.

Excellent. The photos are from our 1978 R182.

I added a gear-pump-on light to our 1981 R182. The contactor failed (contacts welded shut) so the pump stayed on until the circuit breaker tripped. My partner called to let me know that the pump turned on ON THE GROUND [i.e. with the squat switch open].

I used the same light holder as the gear down indicator, cold side to a ground, test side to the same 5 amp gear circuit breaker as the other two gear lights. The indicator lead is attached to the hot side of the gear motor stud, with a two amp in-line fuse.

It illuminates anytime the gear motor is powered. Usually five or six seconds during gear retraction or extension. Sometimes a half second on takeoff as the nose gear squat switch closes. If I ever see it on in flight I plan to land expeditiously and figure out what has changed.

That light should alert the pilot if there is a leak in the hydraulics letting the pump run, if the contactor is failed closed, or if the pressure switch that is supposed to turn the pump off isn't working properly. In any of these cases prompt corrective action would be warranted.

I connected a fused wire to the thick wire that leaves the pump relay and goes to the pump electric motor.
whenever power goes towards the pump motor it turns the light on.
Seals in-the hydraulic cylinders have sippage, or hoses might leak in any event oil will be lost, system hydraulic pressure will lower, causing hyd pump to turn on.
normal gear extension or retraction will also temporarily for 7 or 8 seconds will turn pump on.
While you are making the connection see if you could insulate or improve shielding at the relay terminals
