Section 8 p.8 Handling, Service & Maintenance of the October 1979 R182 POH addresses Towing below and makes clear Cessna recommends using the towbar only. Otherwise expect to damage the stop limits which are not intended to tolerate hard hits from a tow motor or tow bar. Feeling those stops by using the tow bar further indicate they are not for hard duty.
See left, right, and center markings on our NLG strut which are difficult to see while towing and will not be seen by line crew on a tow motor.
We are adamant about not allowing line crew to move our airplane - see viewtopic.php?p=156&hilit=Defensive#p156 so try to not let others move the airplane without being there.
