Battery Trickle Chargers

For those who use a trickle charger while your plane is hangared, do you use the BatteryMINDer trickle charger? I had an A&P IA tell me that planes with a 28V system generally consume their battery every 2 years. It would be great to get about 5 to 6 years out of a battery. And do you use the Airframe Interface Kit so it can be plugged into the ground power receptacle?

On my previous plane with a 14V system, the Concorde battery would last at least 7 years. The battery used a pigtailed connected to a BatteryMINDer so it could be quickly plugged in and remove without having to remove the battery box cover to expose the positive and negative posts of the battery.

Yes the BatteryMINDer® Model 244CEC2-AA-S5: 24V 4 AMP CONCORDE® Aviation Battery Charger-Maintainer-Desulfator is the charger of choice for our Concorde RG24-16 batteries.
See https://www.batteryminders.com/batterym ... esulfator/ stating"These chargers-maintainers-desulfators are designed for all size and type 24-Volt CONCORDE® Aviation Batteries. If you want the longest possible life and performance from your batteries there is no other product better at doing just this and BatteryMINDer® Guarantees it!" per propaganda on the BatteryMinder site.

The A&P who mentioned replacing 28v system batteries every two years suggests there is battery abuse(i.e. extreme conditions) or systems issues. Our Concorde Rep indicates RG24-16 batteries should remain airworthy(that is pass the capacity test with 85%) for about 5yrs+/- under normal conditions. As a data point our 5 yr old battery just passed the capacity test with 85% results indicating we'll likely need to replace it next year. The R/TR182 Type club YouTube channel Zoom meeting with Concorder earlier this year someone on the call had a 13 year old Concorde battery. So battery care & feeding matters!
For those of us who fly single pilot IFR battery health is of key importance.
