Re: Do micro vortex generators slow you down?
Sorry for the late response. Yes. They are worth the investment. It is not an increase in climb rate, rather the MVGs helps the wing produce lift earlier in the takeoff sequence. This results in shorter distance to rotation. On landing, the aircraft is more responsive at low speeds.

Re: Fuel Quantity Measuring Stick
I could not find a commercial 46 gal stick. Buy the fuel hawk universal and calibrate it. I did this with a calibration point every 5 gallons of fuel. This will create a fuel curve that you can interpolate. You can also plug the data into excel and perform a "Least Squares Fit" of the data. It ...

Re: 3 blade prop upgrades
I upgraded from a MAC 2 blade to a MT 3 blade in 2023. The engine and prop combination were dynamically balanced. The MT improved the climb rate and did not negatively impact the cruise performance. The aircraft did require a bit more power during the flare to provide a smooth touchdown sequence ...

Purpose of OEM hole in front left baffle
I have 1979 TR182. I am in the process of engine overhaul. I have removed the baffling and am repairing worn parts. I have question about a hole in the front left baffle (PN 225063-1). The hole is OEM and exists on the horizontal portion of the baffle, right of the oil cooler. See pictures. The hole ...

Re: Electroair Electronic Ignition replacement for 0540-L3C5D Dual magneto
I installed the Electroair dual electronic ignition system in my 1979 TR182 in March of 2023. The engine is the O-540-L3C5D. I am happy with the EA system. I have attached an article that chronicles the installation and initial flight ops. The engine makes more power and uses less fuel than the ...

Re: Do micro vortex generators slow you down?
I have had micro vortex generators on my '79 TR182 since 2013. I have not experienced a loss of speed. I have experienced much greater control at low airspeed and lower stall speed. I flew at high altitude airports in the intermountain west. They produce lift earlier in the takeoff roll. They will ...
